Two weeks after a disastrous rollout, the SBA last night announced on Twitter that it will reopen applications tomorrow under the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program. The prorgram was enacted in December to assist performance venues hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. (Update! The SBA late this afternoon moved the opening date to Monday, April 26).
The program requires operators to register in their "System for Award Management" to receive grants. Their registration portal opened and crashed April 8 and has been down since.
The System for Award Management process can be found on the SBA SVOG webpage along with a video providing registration details. Grant seekers should check the SVOG checklist to make sure they have available the information they will need to complete the application. Key pieces include a statement of need and financial data to back up it up.
