About the Series
Through four specialized sessions, our 2024 Critical Access Hospital series will provide a deeper look into the current challenges and opportunities in rural healthcare. Designed specifically for critical access hospital professionals, we’ll cover key topics in the industry, including:
- Driving Financial Performance
- Compensation and Benefit Planning for your CAH
- The Art and Science of Successful Acquisitions
- 2025 Regulatory Updates
Sessions are held live online over two months with access to on-demand recordings. Each session is $200 to attend, but we are offering discount pricing of $600 for all four sessions. Eide Bailly clients can attend all four sessions for $300 with a discount code.
Each session is eligible for one continued education credit of Specialized Knowledge and the total series is worth four credits upon verification of participant attendance. To receive credit, each participant must be individually registered, logged into the webinar with their own email address, and answering the polling questions.

Meet the Speakers
Jana Smith, Director
Jana joined Eide Bailly in 2011 and works exclusively in the healthcare industry. Throughout her career, she has managed and in-charged financial audits for healthcare entities, prepared Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payor cost reports, and she currently focuses most of her time providing advisory services to various healthcare organizations. These advisory services include financial forecasts, debt capacity studies, market demand analysis, and other financial pro-forma/service-line analyses.
Ryan Ashland, CPA, Director
Ryan works to understand a client's finances and operations to ensure the reimbursement options and reporting are done accurately and structured to obtain proper reimbursement. When you work with Ryan, you can expect a partnership with an experienced finance professional that brings public accounting and private finance knowledge to assist your organization with its financial and reimbursement needs.
Michelle Gates, CSAF, CSBI, Healthcare Consulting Manager
Michelle helps clients find ways to improve the efficiency of the revenue cycle. She leads organizations, using lean methods and strategies when conducting reviews, assessments, and implementation of new systems.
Lauri Dahlberg, PHR, SHRM-CP, HR Consulting Director
Lauri has more than 30 years of experience in human resources and focuses on helping clients identify and implement the best HR practices to meet organization goals and mitigate risk. By utilizing her expertise in HR, business leaders are able to focus on other elements of their business and achieve strategic initiatives.
Bill Hopkins, J.C., Senior Manager
Bill’s clients range from public and privately held companies to nonprofits and member associations of all sizes. He provides guidance and recommendations that help these organizations recruit, retain, and motivate executives, directors, and staff. Bill specializes in compensation benchmarking and program design, compensation program governance, tax technical research and analysis, annual and long-term incentive plan design, due diligence, and reasonableness opinions.
Kristin Taffe, CPA, ABV, Business Valuation Senior Manager
Kristin assists business owners going through periods of change by listening and helping them feel understood. She provides valuation services and works in an advisory capacity with small business owners looking to sell or acquire a business.
Joy Krush, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CDIP, Senior Manager, Revenue Cycle
Joy has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry with an emphasis in coding, health information management, compliance, charge capture, and documentation improvement. She is trained in ICD-10, CPT, and Clinical Documentation Integrity with understanding of MSDRGs and APC payment methodologies. Joy provides reviews of facilities chargemaster to evaluate overall accuracy of coding, revenue codes, and line-item descriptions and assists with implementation of chargemaster recommendations, performs coding and documentation reviews for facility reimbursement, and has experience with managing appeals to RAC and other payers for DRG and APC denials. Joy assists clients with day-to-day revenue cycle questions, including questions and processes relative to provision of telehealth services.
Susan Rohde, RHIT, CCS-P, CPC, Director
Susan helps our clients navigate the ever-changing coding and documentation world. She can lead your organization in maximizing its coding potential via proper documentation, education, and understanding of coding guidelines and regulations, including compliance and medical necessity requirements.
Deyon Suchla, Senior Manager
With more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Deyon assists clients with establishing and implementing daily policies and procedures to meet accounts receivable targets. She provides on-site business office management services, guiding operations from patient pre-registration to final resolution of accounts receivable.
